Sawla Children's Home (Sawla, Ghana)

In June, 2007, IAP established the Sawla Children's Home in northwest Ghana. At this facility 36 orphans have been given a a safe and supportive place to learn, play and grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ. This is the first establishment of its kind in the region. Currently the children living at the home range in age from 6 to 17. The staff consists of dorm mother, cooks, security guards and directors. Many of the children are now attending school for the first time. IAP is looking at the potential of expanding the Children's Home to include vocational training for the kids and determining how this project can be sustained within the country.
This year we learned that the compound that currently houses the children's home, subject to a 6-year lease, will no longer be available after September 2013. This prompted IAP to recently purchase a 5 acre parcel of land at a reasonable price in a good location within the village. The land is currently being cleared and the process is underway to attain permits and begin building a new home for the children and staff. Having 5 acres of land will allow for future expansion as well as space for a large garden and recreation area. We praise God for His continued provision and faithfulness to His little ones.
